Simon Lloyd

Simon has worked on projects quantifying the impacts of climate change on health for the last 5 years. Over this time he has developed an interest in methods that are better able to represent change and are less data demanding than those conventionally used in this area. He is currently undertaking a PhD which is using ‘loop analysis’ (a method of qualitative dynamical systems analysis) to look at the relation between climate change and malnutrition.

Examples of papers (by other authors) that have used loop analysis to look at environmental and/or social systems:

Dambacher Jeffrey M, Ramos-Jiliberto R. Understanding and Predicting Effects of Modified Interactions Through a Qualitative Analysis of Community Structure. The Quarterly Review of Biology. 2007;82(3):227-50.

Dambacher JM, Brewer DT, Dennis DM, Macintyre M, Foale S. Qualitative modelling of gold mine impacts on Lihir Island’s socioeconomic system and reef-edge fish community. Environ Sci Technol. 2007;41(2):555-62
